This publication provides insights into the dynamic nature of real convergence at the global and European levels, addressing a wide range of factors influencing this complex process. It focuses in particular on real convergence as expressed by GDP per capita in PPS, as well as on relevant economic parameters in the areas of productivity, human capital, the labor market, digital technologies, and the quality of institutions. The publication is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter, we look at convergence through the change achieved in the relative level of GDP per capita vis-à-vis the US at the level of individual countries and regions of the global economy. We have expanded our regional analysis of the global economy to include perspectives on income inequality, showing that despite the positive correlation between GDP per capita and higher levels, income inequality is deepening. The second chapter offers a multidimensional view of convergence within the EU through hierarchical cluster analysis. In the third chapter, we take a closer look at the institutional and technological factors of economic development and examine real convergence from the perspective of convergence in productivity levels in the global economy. The fourth chapter adds a geopolitical dimension to the analysis of real convergence, which currently has a significant impact on everyday processes in the global economy.
