For today it is obvious that the role of Asia in the World economy is growing rapidly. There are more and more efforts in Central and Eastern Europe recently to search contacts and intensify economic relations with this continent. The crisis gave an impetus to increase diversification in foreign trade in order to reduce vulnerability and open new possibilities. The China - Central Europe Economic Forum held in Warsaw, in April 2012 is also a sign of intensifying contacts.
In this research we would like to concentrate on the foreign trade patterns of the four Visegrad countries with Asia. A thorough analysis of this kind will be a novelty. Tendencies of the last decade (from 2000 onwards) would be examined regarding the product and geographical structure of exports and imports. V4 countries became members of the European Union and the majority of their trade is directed to the EU but data show that the role of certain Asian countries has increased significantly. The research would analyse the relative and changing role of this relation, problems and chances for new market shares. For comparison Eurostat data would be analysed statistically beside national data.
