• Duration of the project: 2008 - 2009

• The objectives of the projects are following:

  • Outline of national strategy towards regional development and the main policy objectives over the period 2000-2006 in the different groups of regions (Objective 1 and Objective 2 )
  • Main direct outcomes and results of the programmes supported by the Structural Funds in the different regions and in respect of the different sectoral programmes implemented (i.e. what evidence exists on the output of the programmes carried out? What does this evidence show in terms of what was achieved?)
  • An assessment of the effect on regional development of the policy measures implemented or, more realistically, on the factors which are considered to be important in determining the growth and competitiveness of regional economies.
  • Identification of particular areas in which policy seems to have been especially effective – as well as areas where it seems to have less so in order to produce a balanced picture 
  • Institutional and administrative efficiency of the program implementation
  • Assessment of the extent to which useful evaluations of policy affecting regional development are routinely carried out and their results made effective use of; identification of evaluations of policy which are particularly interesting.
