• Duration of the project: 02/2005 – 05/2006
  This own-initiative opinion had been elaborated within the Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Doc. RNDr. Viliam Páleník, PhD. as a member of the EESC was the rapporteur and Ing. Ivana Šikulová the expert of the opinion that took into consideration remarks discussed during the study group meetings.

• The opinion deals with the planned eurozone enlargement and focuses on the following two issues: readiness of the EMU for its enlargement and readiness of the new EU member states for euro adoption. Conclusion includes recommendations for both candidate countries and the old member states.
