Duration of the project: 01/2026 - 12/2028
ID number: VEGA 2/0162/26Migration, as an inherent process that has taken place continuously throughout the existence of humanity, shapes economic and social conditions to a large extent. Within the planned activities of the project we aim to examine the motives, consequences and future trends of migration processes with a focus on Slovak realities. This research will be carried out on two parallel and complementary levels of international and internal migration. In the case of domestic population movements, the research will focus primarily on a retrospective analysis of the last more than sixty years. In the case of international migration, on the other hand, the phenomenon will be examined primarily in the light of current developments after 2015 (demographic ageing, the war in Ukraine) and expected implications for the future (possible further waves and directions of migration in relation to climate change and conflicts in different parts of the world).
