Filip Ostrihoň has more than seven years of experience with the evaluation and ex-post analysis of early warning systems focused predominantly on various forms of economic crises. His examination of the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure, both from the perspective of a prominent public early warning system as well as a specific case of bureaucratic decision making, can be highlighted as a particular example. In this regard, related research that he had been involved in focused on providing empirical evidence for public debt threshold of 60% of GDP within the EU.
Other areas that he, thus far, had an opportunity to delve into include the assessment of pro-poor growth, the investigation of effects of capital flight on economic growth, the development of long-run model of the Slovak economy and its application to pension system projections, the estimation of price and income elasticities of Slovak cigarette demand, and the analysis of Slovak regional competitiveness and productivity.
During his research he obtained considerable experience with application of econometric binary and discrete choice models within a panel data framework. Furthermore, he is also fairly familiar with methodological extensions of evaluating predictive performance of such models, particularly in the direction of the signaling approach and the area under operating characteristic curve.
