Filip Ostrihoň has more than six years of experience with evaluation and ex-post analysis of early warning systems focused predominantly on various forms of economic crises. The research of the European Commission’s Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure can be underlined as of his particular interest from this perspective. He has also participated on a research in a related area of fiscal rules, specifically, the relevance of public debt threshold at 60% of GDP.
The topics of his past research also include examination of pro-poor growth, measurement of the effects of capital flight, development of long-run model of the Slovak economy and its potential implementation for pension system projections, and the analysis of regional competitiveness.
Among his strong suits can be regarded the experience with various econometric techniques, recently mostly gravitating towards estimators of binary dependent variables. These were primarily applied in a panel data setting, while relying on correlated random effects framework on multiple occasions.
