The working paper is oriented to characterizing the connections of the income polarization and the implications of the fourth industrial revolution in Slovak conditions. Attention is focused on the issues of the current pillars of the economy, of which the main - the automotive industry - its allocation is closely related to the setting of low labor costs in most regions of Slovakia. The paper concerns changes in the development of the production and subcontracting model, especially the cooperation of Slovak subcontractors and foreign investors. It also points to the core of the Slovak educational system's fault in the use of new technologies. It deals with issues of information flows, communication between customers and businesses, transformation of subcontracting and the future status of Slovak suppliers. Part of the thesis is also a presentation of possibilities and limitations of the use of SMART technologies, creation of SMART cities and regions in the SR. In particular, the focus is on the "paths" of creasing and expanding the business space in relation to SMART technology, regional disparities and low availability of population incomes as a limiting factor for the introduction of SMART technologies.
