Areas of interest
The Department of Economic Modelling and Analysis was created for the purpose of developing and applying the results of basic research in the field of economic theory methodology of mathematical economics. The results of this research are used mainly in the field of applied research using empirical models and analysis. The number of used economic models can be used to answers as for specific tasks, ie also in cross-cutting and societal topics. The results of the work are used in the creation of public policies, especially the primary connection of basic research and application practice in various areas of social life. The basic research areas of economic research in this department include:
- Creation of an econometric model for forecasting and future development of the Slovak economy with a medium-term outlook and quarterly update.
- Creation of an econometric input-output model for forecasting and analysis of the development of the Slovak economy according to regional and sectoral breakdown.
- Creation and modification of a dynamized structural model of CGE (computable general economic equilibrium model) in order to analyse the impact of non-marginal changes (shocks) on the structure of the economy and its future development.
- Creation of a regional model at NUTS III level in order to analyse and forecast future developments mainly in the labour market and the use of EU funds (in terms of the future structure of the economy and labour demand).
- Creation of partial analyses using the I-O model.
- Creation of a microeconomic model in order to predict the labour market supply.
- Analysis of non-marginal changes and fiscal development of systems covered mainly from public sources (health, social, tax, pension, etc.).
- Creating demand for selection methods according to the general economy using mathematical economics, macro / micromodels and optimization methods.
- Creation and submission of national / international projects using methods of mathematical economics.
- Addressing empirical analyses in the EU and nearby regions (V4).
- Preparation of forecasts for the EECF on a monthly basis.
- Use of methods of multicriteria evaluation of variants / alternatives for decision support (DEA, Promethee).
