Technological development is the persistent global megatrend, currently conceptualized as the fourth industrial revolution. This working paper deals with selected issues of the Slovak economy in the context of the rise of the fourth industrial revolution. The aim of the work is to identify suitable indicators from the available statistical sources and to analyze selected factors of the development of the fourth industrial revolution in Slovakia. The work is particularly focused on the analysis of innovation development (as the key assumption of the fourth industrial revolution) and the status and development of information and communication technologies (as the primary technology of the fourth industrial revolution).
