The paper analyses the development of employment in the national economy, regions and branches from the ageing point of view. The main aim is to characterise the development of the share of employees aged over 50 in selected branches. We describe the regional profile of the ageing of employees, the development of the share of pensions to wages at a regional level. We use official data on demographic development in the Slovak Republic up to 2035 and administrative data on the individual incomes of Slovak population (wages, pensions) from the Social Insurance of the Slovak Republic from 2005 to 2015 on monthly basis (which were technically modified for the needs of individual analysis). The identification of the relevant relationships enables more specific views of several key contexts for the polarisation of incomes and regional inequalities in Slovak Republic. The mosaic of contexts for the polarisation of incomes is completed by a regional profile of the share of the population with an income of up to 300 and to 400 Euros.
