The intention is to analyse unemployment and income development in countries such as Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. These are highly open economies that after 1989 went through transformation process; all are members of the EU and neighbouring countries. Restructuring of their national economy was carried out under nearly uniform chart of liberalization, deregulation and privatization. The chart represents significant exogenous determinants. The impacts of this process on national labour markets are differentiated by the beginning of the financial and economic crisis. In the following period can be seen a similar trend with some differences, e. g. in employment of university educated people. There are less positive trends for Slovakia in all the indicators. Especially longterm unemployment parameters show a high "numbers”. Increased attention is paid for development of longterm unemployment at regional level (Regions and districts of Slovakia). By examination of the relationship of unemployment and wage development at regional level of Slovakia; it was found that with increasing unemployment rate, wages are falling (Price level is low in the economy).
