In this paper authors are dealing with the impact of ageing population on the change in con-sumer behaviour in selected EU countries through the analysis of household expenditures from the family household accounts. The work is mainly oriented to the comparison of con-sumer (aged 50+) behaviour patterns in old and new EU member states, with the special focus on the consumer behaviour in the regions with the greatest potential demand. In the case of Slovakia, the changing expenditure patterns of young and older people without the changes in the price level are analysed in more detail.
