The aim of working paper is to provide the review on the ecological innovation (eco-inovation) in the macroeconomic perspective and the context of economic policy. In the first part we shortly discuss eco-innovation in the theoretical perspective. In the second part we analyse eco-innovation as a part of macroeconomic policy in the European Union and Slovak economy. We define some factors, which may contribute to the advance of eco-innovation in Slovakia. In the third part we analyse and compare the selected indicators of the eco-innovation development in the Slovak and European economies.
