Several side effects were attributed to vaccines against COVID-19 disease, among which a greater incidence of various cardiovascular events was often mentioned. This paper sheds light on the issue by exploiting a rich Slovak administrative dataset. Using detailed information about vaccination, COVID-19 diagnosis and cardiovascular events, we estimate the risk of cardiovascular diagnosis following vaccination using multivariate survival analysis. Our results indicate that vaccination against COVID-19 is not associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular diagnosis. On the other hand, a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 significantly increases the risk.
