On Monday, June 8, 2026 a pilot meeting was held at Pálffy Palace, attended by a wide range of experts from the field of economics as well as non-economists. To bring genuine expert discussion back into the public sphere. This was the main motivation behind the initiative launched by the Institute of Economic Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Finance at the Bratislava University of Economics and Business, the Institute for Freedom and Entrepreneurship, and the Milan Rastislav Štefánik Conservative Institute. The goal of the Slovak Economic Forum is to create a long-term platform for high-quality expert economic discussion based on respect for facts and arguments and respect for those with opposing views. This is undoubtedly a positive contribution by the initiators to the generally needed cultivation of public discourse.
