Competences and responsibilities:
Independent research and publishing activities, scientific project activities, leader of a project team, supervising PhD students, participation in scientific events, promotion of scientific results.

Educational requirements:
A third-level university degree (Ph.D) in economics or related social sciences. Interest in further training and eligibility for scientific qualification at grade IIa (independent researcher criteria: https://www.sav.sk/?lang=sk&doc=docs-qualify), possibly at grade I, if the candidate already meets the criteria for grade IIa.
Research focus and candidate´s aptitudes/skills:
We are looking for a researcher with a solid publication record in scientific journals (indexed in Scopus, WoS databases) and project experience in the field of world economics, with a thematic focus on topics such as globalization, international trade, country competitiveness, real convergence, European integration, income polarization, climate crisis, institutional economics, or other research areas falling within the scope of world economy research.
We require knowledge of English at the level necessary to communicate research results on international floors. We expect an overview of the streams of contemporary economic research and recent research methodologies. The advantage is the command of econometric methods and the ability to process data in R, Matlab, Stata, or Eviews.
A proactive interest in learning new things and a good understanding of current events in the world economy are requirements for this position – the candidate will be progressively included in the department´s research activities, and the choice of a specific research topic will depend on his/her aptitude and the needs of the department.
Brief characteristics of the advertising institute
Institute of Economic Research has been a part of the Slovak Academy of Sciences since its inception in 1953. It´s research activities are focused on the issues of globalization and adaptation processes, especially in the European area, on the research of the socio-economic development of Slovakia and its regions, on macroeconomic policy and the trend towards a knowledge-based economy. The research includes econometric and broader empirical methods.
