Institute of Economic Research Slovak Academy of Sciences is organising international conference Regional disparities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It will be held in Smolenice, Slovakia, between 17th-19th November 2010. It is aimed at bringing together researchers and academicians from Europe and other regions to discuss the trends in, causes and consequences of and remedies to regional disparities within and across CEE. Financial crisis and regional disparities
Impact of structural funds on regional convergence
Knowledge-based economy and regional competitiveness
Regional models and forecasts
Regional labour market dynamics
Spatial analysis
Regional capital markets
Multisectoral analysis
Conference deadlines:
Deadlines for the submission of the abstract: April 30th, 2010.
The abstract should contain the objective of the paper, methodology used and preliminary or expected results.
Notification of the Program Committee decisions: May 31st, 2010
Deadline for sending the electronic version of the accepted paper (doc and PDF): August 30th, 2010
Conference fees:
The registration fee: € 230, € 175 before August 1st
PhD. Students: € 185, € 140 before August 1st
Invoice and payment details will be sent on request.
Conference fee is covering:
- conference proceedings with CD
- conference lunches, catering
- welcome reception
- accommodation in conference venue
As for the building is of historical type and has limited number of rooms, participants should be able to share rooms.

For paper (abstract) submission and any further information regarding the conference please contact Marek Radvanský, ( Marek.Radvansky@savba.sk). Papers selected and presented at the conference will be published in reviewed conference proceedings. In addition, selected papers will be published in a special edition of the Ekonomicky casopis/Journal of Economics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences after standard peer-reviewing process. The Ekonomicky Casopis is indexed in Social Science Citation Index, Current Contents/Social and Behavioral Sciences, SCOPUS, including abstracts in EconLit. Conference language is English.
